38 Wins

World Cup draft game:
eleven players, one trophy

Spin for a real World Cup squad — 88 nations, twenty tournaments, 1950 to 2026. Draft eleven players, then go through the knockouts and try to lift it.

This is the only mode where Pelé, Cruyff and Maradona are on the table. Free, in your browser, no sign-up.

What World Cup mode is

The same draft, a different tournament. Eleven spins, each landing on a nation at a specific World Cup — Brazil 1970, Italy 1982, France 1998 — and one player taken from each. Then instead of a thirty-eight-game league you play the knockouts.

It is the deepest history in the game by a distance. The club pool starts in this century; this one starts in 1950, which is why a player who retired before the modern era only exists here. It is also the thinnest pool per round: 88 nations against 165 clubs, so the one-nation-per-draft rule bites much harder and every spin matters more.

Seven rounds, or eight

The World Cup has not been one size. The game follows the real formats:

FormatRounds to win itWhen
32 teams7Squads up to 2022
48 teams8Any XI reaching into 2026

The format is decided by your eleven, not by you: draft a single player from a 2026 squad and you are playing the longer tournament. Group stage counts — take a win and a draw out of it or you go home in the first week.

How to play

  1. Choose World Cup as your competition, then a mode and a formation.
  2. Spin for a nation at a tournament and read the squad.
  3. Pick one player and place him. No nation comes up twice in a draft.
  4. Repeat eleven times, then play the tournament out.

Prefer club football? English top flight and European league modes run the 38-game season instead. The FAQ has the detail on ratings and simulation.

Questions

Which tournaments are included?

All twenty of them, 1950 to 2026 — 482 squads from 88 nations. Pelé, Cruyff and Maradona are all in the game, and the World Cup is the only place you will find them, because the club pool does not reach back that far.

Why is it seven rounds and sometimes eight?

Because the tournament changed size. A 32-team World Cup is seven knockout rounds; the 48-team format from 2026 is eight. The game picks the format from your XI — if any of your players comes from a 2026 squad you play the longer one.

Is it easier than a league season?

Shorter, not easier. A league season punishes you slowly over thirty-eight matches; a World Cup gives you seven and no second chances. One bad round against a good side and the run is over regardless of how well you drafted.

Can I use club players in it?

No — World Cup mode draws only from national-team squads, and the club modes draw only from clubs. That keeps each leaderboard comparable. If you want club football, try English top flight or European league mode.
